Construction has started at the SEC Delburn Wind Farm near the Latrobe Valley, creating new jobs and supporting local businesses.
Around 40 workers are already working on the site as early construction begins. The workforce is expected to grow to about 300 workers at the peak of construction.
The project is supporting local employment, with nine local trainees and apprentices already working on site.
The wind farm is being developed with support from delivery partners including OSMI Australia, Vestas, and local Traralgon business Delta Group. The project is helping create opportunities for local workers and suppliers.
Current construction work includes preparing the site, building temporary facilities, developing access roads, clearing plantation trees, mulching, and completing early earthworks.
Five firefighting water tanks, each with a capacity of 130,000 litres, have also been installed as part of the early works.
Once completed in 2028, the wind farm will have 33 turbines and the capacity to generate up to 205 megawatts of renewable energy. This is enough to power more than 130,000 homes.
The project is expected to provide more than $22 million in benefits for neighbours and the local community over its lifetime.
The renewable energy generated will help support public services, including schools, hospitals, police stations, and public transport facilities.
The project is also part of a broader plan to expand renewable energy and storage capacity while creating skilled jobs in the Latrobe Valley and across Victoria.
