Major projects are helping transform Western Sydney into a centre for advanced industries, technology, and innovation.
Construction has started on a new advanced manufacturing building at Bradfield City. At the same time, a new $1 billion industrial estate has received approval in the Western Sydney Aerotropolis.
The new Bradfield City building will support advanced manufacturing and create new opportunities for high-value jobs. The 7,000-square-metre facility will include Australia’s first commercial Semiconductor Advanced Packaging Facility.
The facility will give local businesses access to advanced semiconductor packaging, micro-electronics, and precision manufacturing technology. It will help Australian innovations move from research into commercial production locally.
The facility will include specialised cleanroom laboratories and advanced equipment. It will support development in areas such as quantum computing, photonics, sensing technology, communications, and medical technology.
The new building will also include another advanced manufacturing hall and office spaces for businesses in growing industries. It will expand the work of the existing Advanced Manufacturing Readiness Facility already operating in Bradfield City.
The two Bradfield City facilities represent a combined $300 million investment. They are expected to attract businesses in sectors including semiconductors, robotics, aerospace, defence, clean technology, and advanced manufacturing.
A new industrial estate, Burrah Park, is also set to become a major employment area in the Western Sydney Aerotropolis.
The approved $1 billion development is expected to create more than 6,300 ongoing jobs in areas such as freight, logistics, advanced manufacturing, and technology when completed in 2032.
The estate will include logistics facilities, smart technology features, and 26 hectares of parkland for conservation, recreation, and community use.
The first stage of development will include three logistics centres and major infrastructure upgrades to support future operations.
The Western Sydney Aerotropolis is growing as a location for advanced manufacturing, logistics, technology, and industrial investment. The area is expected to support up to 200,000 new jobs across the broader Western Parkland City, with a $31 billion investment pipeline.
These projects aim to strengthen local industries, create employment opportunities, and support long-term economic growth in Western Sydney.
