New Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) have been introduced to improve the speed and transparency of electricity connections for homes, generators, and industrial users in Queensland. Backed by a $418 million investment for the 2026-27 period, these measures aim to support housing delivery and economic development by reducing connection timeframes.
Energy Queensland and Powerlink will be subject to public reporting on their performance regarding connection times. For Energy Queensland, a primary target is completing simple supply-available connections within five days 95 per cent of the time. Separate metrics address subdivision works, negotiated connections, and data quality assurance.
Powerlink’s KPIs focus on response times to enquiries, negotiation of access standards, and overall connection delivery performance. Industry leaders note that population growth and the increasing uptake of solar, batteries, and electric vehicles are driving demand for more efficient connection processes. The framework is intended to provide customers and developers with greater visibility into network performance.
